Registration for all workshops require a 50% deposit with final payment due 45 days before the workshop.  

Cancellation Policy:

- Cancellation prior to final payment deadline, the refund will be the deposit amount less $100.  

- Cancellations after final payment deadline, there is no refund, except in the event your place is filled. If your reserved place is filled, the refund will be the amount paid less $100.






Lake Como, Italy - September 12 - 19

7 Day Plein Air Workshop - Single Occupancy $3,600

Roger is very excited to teach his first overseas workshop in beautiful Lake Como, Italy. Students will not only get a great Roger Dale Brown workshop experience where you will learn about composition, light, value and shapes, but you will also get to experience Northern Italy. 

The workshop includes 5 full days of instruction, when we will paint in a variety of beautiful locations around the lake…Bellagio, Varenna, and Lenno, just to name a few!   Part of the beauty of this picturesque area is the variety of subjects for an artist to explore…harbor scenes, street scenes, architecture and gardens.

Accommodations will be in a lovely Albergo on the shores of Lake Como.  A bountiful buffet breakfast will be served daily.  In the evenings, we will enjoy very special dinners together in the charming hotel restaurant that sits over the lake.   Our hotel is located in a small village about five kilometers south of Bellagio.  The views in our small village and from the hotel itself are unmatched!

Lunches (there are a variety of places to grab a bite at all painting locations)

A $600 deposit is needed in order to hold a registrants place in the workshop.  The deposit is refundable, less a $200 fee, up until 6 months before workshop commencement date. Once someone contacts me to confirm that they want to sign up, I will email them the registration form and trip waiver.

Brown County, IN - October 12 - 15

4 Day Plein Air Workshop - $550

This class will be held in Brown County, IN by Brown County Art Gallery Association. Roger will begin with an orientation and slide show of Master Artist works.  It is there that he will explain in detail the techniques and compositions of the masters, to help enhance your understanding of the foundation of painting. 

This class will cover the process of how to create a successful plein air painting. Roger will instruct you on how to compose a painting out of the vastness of the landscape, how to see as an artist, how to handle the light changing, and much more. He will also give you the thought process that he uses to create a successful painting from the foundation to a completed painting and help you with paint application.  Roger will begin the class with a slide show and a lecture that will demonstrate many of the elements that he will be teaching.  He will paint demonstrations and will give you a lot of paint time and personal critiques.

4 Day Landscape Studio Workshop - $575 

February 21-24

This Studio Workshop will be held in Dot Courson’s new workshop building. Roger will begin with an orientation and slide show of Master Artist works.  It is there that he will explain in detail the techniques and compositions of the masters, to help enhance your understanding of the foundation of painting. 

You will have four days of intensive learning. Instruction will include a small twist using still life set ups. This will be very valuable as Roger transitions you into landscape painting. You will get a good dose of planning your compositions, how to use your reference material successfully, identifying value and color, and how to see as an artist. Roger will demo, and you will have a lot of paint time practicing the techniques you are learning.

First Brush of Spring - New Harmony, IN

20TH ANNUAL FIRST BRUSH OF SPRING PAINT OUT

A collaboration between the New Harmony Hoosier Salon and the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association (IPAPA)

This class will be valuable for the artist that wants to create beautiful studio paintings using the information that is gathered on location. The information gathered will include your plein air sketches, photographs, drawings and notes. 

You will have two days of painting on location with instruction on how to create a good composition, capture correct value and how to gather information important to take back to the studio. Following that there will be two days in the studio using the information you gathered outside. Roger will show you how to use that information and expand on it to create studio paintings. You will learn studio techniques that will give your work another push towards excellence.
